Purpose is the driving force that will you get more of the several articles,feeds and eBooks you read online. The information you want to obtain and the satisfaction to be derived is your purpose. However, the following questions will help your aim accurately:1. What information am I looking for?
2.Am I reading for pleasure or for learning?
3. What reading methods will suite my purpose?
4. How about the author?5. Is he or she an expert on the field being written?
A recent research has shown that online readers will only read a full article published on the internet if only it fit their interest and purpose. Your purpose will determine whether to read for comprehension(deep reading) or to get a glimpse of it(skimming and scanning).
Stick a web page:
Your capacity to stay on a certain web page of interest will judge your ability to grab the whole content outlined. However, your ability to stick to a page will be effective provided the content is rich. Internet publishers create a lot of internal and external links to other pages or websites that have similar article of interest. It will be of much benefits if you stay disciplined on a particular page of interest for a while before jumping to the next link that flash by. Sticking to a web page with a bit of active reading, will pay in the following ways:1. You're able to judge accurately
2. You're able to grab the content in its fullest.
3. You are not deceived into following links outside your interest.
4. You are able to examine the author's credentials very well for a better analysis.
When you don't really find a page interesting, you can quickly skim and scan through for topical ideas,keywords or phrases and a general overview. These information may be useful someday.
Keep records of websites:
Your reading adventure on the internet, will take you around the world with your browser. Allowing you to move from sites to sites, articles to articles and a pages to pages. The likelihood that you will miss a certain wed address of vital information is very higher.So it is worth paying when you keep a record of web addresses so that you may revisit. Your main purpose is benefiting more reading online so it is necessary if you make notes and keep records in a separate book or pad. The fact is, you'll visit both relevant and irrelevant sites. Therefore, taking notes help as below:
1. It saves time since you don't have to go through the usual search
2. It is a best practice worth doing.
3. Provides quick reference
4. If it saves time, then it saves money too.

In conclusion, becuase we use the net for research, assignments and project works, we must be careful in selecting and in the usage of the information we gather online.Uninersity education and for that matter UDS rely mostly on students ability to collect and use information.
